Steve is a Commerce graduate from the University of Newcastle. Managing
Director for TuffRock, he is also responsible
for the Sales and Marketing functions. Steve’s family has a long
association with the land, past generations farming property throughout
Prior to joining TuffRock, Steve’s
company Stable Solutions developed and marketed products to the thoroughbred
industry. He also spent a long time in the wine industry and was proud
to work with Brian McGuigan for several years.
Roger is a Chartered Professional Engineer (Metallurgy) with more than
45 Years in the mining industry. Roger is also the Principal and Managing
Director of Roger Smith and Associates Pty Limited - a consulting company
in Mineral Engineering and Environmental Science. Roger has extensive
practical experience with a wide range of minerals, separation process
During his career he specialised in Industrial Minerals and how to
apply them to develop commercially viable products for companies such
as BHP, Warman International, Western Titanium, Vickers and Lend Lease
Corporation. In TuffRock Roger is responsible
for Technology, Research & Development and Product Development functions.
He is the designer of the unique volcanic mineral processing equipment
and technology used by TuffRock.
Kari graduated from Helsinki School of Economics in 1982 with a Master
of Science (Economics) degree. After five years in various international
organizations, he took on roles as Corporate and Area Controller with
Telecommunications giant Nokia based in Switzerland and the UK.
Moving to Australia as part of the Senior Management Team for Nokia,
he established their operations in Australia and New Zealand. Following
this, he relocated to Prague, Czech Republic as Nokia’s Area Human
Resources Director for Central, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
After spending 14 years with Nokia in six countries, he returned to
Sydney and joined forces with Steve Hurley and Roger Smith to establish
TuffRock Pty Ltd.
